Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is a one-to-one treatment modality in which one engages in a therapeutic relationship with a therapist in order to address a variety of issues in their lives.  It is a supportive and collaborative process aimed at making positive changes and achieving  improved quality of life.  People seek therapy for a wide range of issues such as depression, anxiety, work stress and relationship conflict.

Couples Therapy

Couple therapy is a treatment modality in which couples seek relationship counselling from a therapist in order to improve their relationship functioning, resolve interpersonal conflicts and achieve improved communication.  It helps couples identify underlying issues and negative cycles that create distress in the relationship and implement a plan to help restore their communication to a healthier and more satisfying level of functioning.

My Style and Therapeutic Approach

I am an actively engaged therapist who works collaboratively with you to identify the areas that are creating the most distress in your life.  I assist in creating a mutually agreed-upon plan for addressing these issues and will focus our efforts to help you identify and achieve your treatment goals.  I pay particular attention to making sure you feel comfortable and heard.

I am well versed in a variety of therapeutic modalities and will tailor my approach to best suit your therapy needs.  I use a combination of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Communication Skills Development and Solution-Focused Therapy to foster better and more adaptive coping strategies.  I also incorporate an insight-oriented approach aimed at understanding how important past relationships and experiences contribute to issues in the present, and use this to  bring change to the here-and-now.
